I need a vacation.  I need a day even. Just a day to sleep in and rest.  I am so busy and stressed lately.  At least I am having fun with it!

Thanks to Brightroom for capturing all of my…uhh… finest(?) moments from Sunday on camera!  Here are a few of my faves.

why do my arms look like slabs of beef. where is the muscle?

beef arms again

I like that last picture.  I don’t look the best but I think its funny. I just wish the clock was in it!   Thanks again for all the support and encouragement for the race….especially her.

Even after I biked and ran yesterday I decided to go to Body Pump to lift.  I have to get there crazy early to make sure I get a spot and during the time I am waiting for the class to start, I normally run a few more miles.  Not yesterday! After I set up for class I sat on my butt and read a magazine!  I didn’t hate it!

I’m glad I went to class yesterday.  It was a new release and I really felt good lifting!  I am hoping to go at least 2 times a week so my arms start looking less like slabs of beef, as seen in the above photos.  You know  I rocked my new “MORE Half Marathon” shirt to class!

I am planning on a rest day today…orrrr some ellipticalling depending on how my day goes and I am getting my hair did tonight!  See you after that!

Good, Bad, Ugly

Good:  The bachelorette party that I am planning is this weekend and I can’t wait!

Bad: I am running around finishing some last-minute things and I feel like I am being pulled in 20 directions

Ugly: I almost ended up with an outfit that I would have felt so uncomfortable in.

Don't ALL got returned

Good: I am becoming more conscious of how bad tanning beds are for you so I have been using self tanner.

Bad: I may or may not look a little orange.

30 minute early morning bike ride

Ugly:  The orange comes off on white towels which is super cute.

Good: Crest white strips work

Bad: They effing hurt my teeth dangit

Ugly: If I stop using them I won’t get the whole “glow in the dark” teeth look that I am going for.

Good: After a 30 minute bike ride this morning, I squeezed in 4 quick miles on my lunch

Bad: I forgot clean draws for after

Ugly: I went commando and relied on the underwear liner thing in my running shorts.  Lucky for the other gym goers it worked out well and no one knew I was free ballin’ it.

Good: I have been feeling great since the race Sunday

Bad: I haven’t been to Body pump in almost 2 weeks because of tapering for the race and then Monday I wanted an extra day of rest

Ugly: I am crashing HARD right now and am really giving some serious consideration to skipping tonight too but the thought of never having muscle tone again keeps sticking out in the back of my head.

Guess I am going to rely on this in the meantime!

Iced coffee and protein pretzels!

What’s your “good, bad and ugly“?

Oh, and I am Fickle Fran.. Tell me.. Do I go to Body Pump tonight!?

Happy Weekend 🙂

I can’t wait until I have no vacation left at the end of the year because I keep taking an hour or two on Fridays.  Oh well 😛

Yesterday I met up with this girl

Her mom and my mom were there too.  We had a mommy/daughter lunch date.

Now that I think about it, we do that a lot.

cheese + veggies + more veggies

Subway is our lunch of choice.

I bopped around near work for a while.  I am trying to kill my urge to go shopping.  Instead of spending the hundreds I would like at Bloomingdales this weekend I opted for a couple bucks at Forever 21 instead.  Then My Bestie surprised me with this gem….

I love presents ❤

Bet you are curious as to what is inside…..more on that later 😛

I went to the gym at the end of the day.  I ran 6 miles.  I felt ok, not great but not horrible.  Then I took my first Body Pump class in over a week.  It wasn’t pretty.  I was tired and weak and just altogether not into it.  Hate that the most.  Oh well.   I am hoping that I can fresh start Monday and feel good as new!

For dinner Jbone and I went to a steakhouse.  Yep, the veg head went to a steak house.   I had their delicious rolls….oh and a side of salad for my dinner 😛

Needless to say, I was all over the place yesterday just like this blog post.  Not sure what is on the agenda today other than no running. Long long run tomorrow morning!  Have a good day peoples!

I’ll Take It

Monday.  Not too bad.  I’ll take it!

It started with a good 4 mile run.

Then the leopard print came into play

Apparently I was feeling a little sassy.  rawr.

Then the warm weather stayed a little longer.

And my midday walks are back during break time at work.

Then a strong dude told me he was impressed with how much weight I can squat.

I informed him it was after 3 days of running and 6 miles today alone.

oh yea, I had time to sneak in 2 fast miles before body pump.

Then I got to see my dude.

Like I said

For a Monday

I’ll take it!

What is Body Pump?

So, I am constantly talking about my love for body pump but I don’t think I ever really explained what it is.   Duh.

Body Pump is a Les Mills, choreographed, full body strength training class.  It is typically an hour-long class that incorporates mostly barbels throughout the entirety of the class.

Typical setup

I have strength trained on and off for years.  From lifting 2 muscle groups 3 times a week, to 5 days a week focusing on 1 body part a day… I have done it all.  I swear by this class.  I was never really thrilled with the idea of full body workouts.  Most likely because when I would lift, I would get sore…sometimes painfully sore.  So the thought of training my legs more than once a week was unbearable.   This class is different.

Yes, I do get sore.  But the amount of weight you use it totally up to you.  On a day you are feeling a little sore, lighten the load.  Days that you feel great and want to really push yourself, add more weight.

I think music is a big part of taking classes.  If the music sucks, I am not into the class at all.  Body Pump takes music that is mostly current and sometimes throws in an “oldie but a goodie.”  All of the tracks are available on their website.

The class is typically broken down like this with each song corresponding to a new muscle group:

Warm up

And the best part is that there are currently 81 releases.  About every 3 months a new release is available so there is more variety.  Instructors can stick to one release from start to finish, or pick tracks from different releases.

For the most part, Body Pump never gets boring.  You are constantly challenging your muscles in new ways.

One thing that I think is insane about this class is that in any given class, it is normal to do at least 800 repetitions within the hour.  For me, that is mind-blowing!

I swear by this type of training and hope that everyone gets to at least experience on class!

Dot Com

Monday, here and gone.  Thank goodness it’s gone, no?

After work I quickly headed over to the gym to set up for BodyPump.  No joke, I was there almost 30 minutes early and got the last spot.  DANG.

By the time I was set up I had a little less than 20 minutes until class started.  I planned on not running and doing the elliptical but I wanted to get my sweat on, so the treadmill won.  I did about 2.5 fast miles before I went to class.  Today I upped my squat weight and dannggg I was feeling it!  Tomorrow should be interesting 😉   I love working out.  Did you know that?! 😛

Clearly I am new at this whole blogging thing.  I mean, I feel like I still have a lot to learn and a lot more I want to add to the site. One new thing that my computer geek smart manfriend suggested was getting my own domain name. Now… Not only can you find your favorite blog at… but also at  HOLLA

movin’ on up in the world!

I am working on a post for you for the next few days.  I am putting a lot of time into it so you better goddang appreciate it so I am hoping you love it the most.

See you tomorrow after an all too early run!

Butterflies, Rainbows and Beer

It is amazing what a workout can do!

I got home from work yesterday and passed the eff out.  I woke up TOTALLY bitch cranky.  I didn’t want to be awake, but I didn’t want to be asleep.  I was just miserable.   I forced myself to go to the gym and I am so glad I did.

I got there and hopped on the treadmill for an easy 5 mile run.  Talk about runners high!  I was running and feeling so good.  I kept upping the speed every so often and before I knew it, I had the pace at 7:43 min/mile and wasn’t dying.  I ended up feeling so great that I ran 6 miles and my last mile was under 7:00.

Despite being on a treadmill, the whole time I was thinking ” I love running. Running Running Running.  This is great.  I love life, La la la.” No joke.

I finished my run and went to BodyPump.  Now, you KNOW I was on a runners high because I was friendly.  I am typically bitchface.  I don’t mean to be, but when I go to the gym I am there to workout, that’s it.  No.  Last night I was all about unicorns and rainbows and loving life and being friendly.  It was great!

Body Pump was good.  I pushed myself a little more than normal since tomorrow I am taking a rest day.  WIll push ups ever get easier though?  I mean, come on already!

After a killer workout the only logical thing to do would be to eat disgusting food.  Jface and I went to a local bar for pizza and a few beers.

Apparently I love Magic Hat almost as much as J loves peanut butter pie.  We ate like fatties and it was delicious.

Not sure what I am up to today.  It’s a rest day.  I hate rest days.  It’s so warm out and I want to be running right now. As We Speak.

Have a good day, Happy weekend 😀

Strong is the New Skinny

Hay there!

Last night my workout was great!  I got to they gym early enough to run 3 miles.  3 good feeling, fast miles!  Then I did Body pump.  I have to tell you, I felt so strong.  SO strong.

There were 2 dudes in class last night.  I would say the guys were about 19/20 years old and they both looked like they were in decent shape.  Now, allow me and my big head to brag a little I couldn’t help but notice that I lifted more weight than them for everything.  No joke.  I was so proud of myself.

I know it’s not a great trait to have but typically I spend my time checking out other chicks and their bodies.  Not last night. Last night I was watching the weights I used compared to other people and I felt so strong.  I guess it is true, I would rather be strong than skinny.

Here is a blog post from one of my more favorite blogs.  I think her post was really interesting and probably speaks to a lot of people.  I tried to think about how this idea of disordered eating applies to me.  And honestly, I feel like my eating habits are actually really healthy.  In the morning after a run I always make sure to have some protein and carb (preferably in the form of chocolate milk and a banana) and I never restrict myself from eating anything.  For the most part, I eat anything I want just in moderation unless I am having a fat day and I eat everything in copious amounts.

This morning I did 5 miles on the treadmill.  It was supposed to be 6.  1 mile warm up, 4 miles @8:10 and 1 mile cool down.   Well, I don’t know if it is because I didn’t have coffee or what, but it was TOUGH dude. Like, KILL me tough.

I completed 1 mile warm up, 2 miles at 8:00 and 2 horrid miles at 8:06.  They were tough.  I was pissed too because last night I ran 3 miles at 7:43 pace no problem.  Next week I am going to make sure to run my speed workout in the afternoon to see if it makes a difference.  Oh yea…and that 1 mile cool down.  HA.  How about a 0.15 mile walk instead?

I am hoping to make it to yoga tonight at a new yoga studio.  I will let you know how it goes!

Have a good day 🙂

Photobombing Ballerina

Happy Hump Day!

There is nothing better than lunch at home.  I mean, there ARE better things than lunch at home but today, lunch at home was perfect!

I had a fairly busy day at work today and we got some snow/slush in the area so of course i was nervous to drive home and die so I skipped lunch at work to finish a few things up and get home early.  I got home and was Hangry!

Peanut butter and cut up apple on toast?  yes please!

I also had a cup of new coffee I bought the other day.  Folgers gourmet Vanilla Biscotti.  I would for sure buy it again! I generally like flavored coffee and this is super flavorful!

I just got an email from Brightroom photography. They were the photographers at the Disney Princess Half marathon this past weekend.  In fact, I think it’s safe to say they were the photographers at most large races I ever competed in!

Anyways, I got an email saying my race pictures were ready.  The one I was really looking forward to was one of my mom, Sam and myself in front of the castle.  I can’t find it though!  WTFrenchToast!?  I will keep searching.    I did, however, find these gems…

Clearly I was a photobombing ballerina in that race.  Mam between me and my mom, you are welcome for that first picture 😉

This morning I woke up late.  Instead of 5 miles I got 4 in.  I am headed to body pump now.  Since the class is so busy and I have to get there days an hour in advance, I am hoping to bang out at least 2 more miles on the treadmill.

Hope you have a good rest your hump day 😛

Hey Boo Boo

Happy Day 🙂

I hope you had off today.  I only had to work for a couple of hours and THOROUGHLY enjoyed my hours of NOT working!

After I got home from work, J and I took the pups up to the state park in our area and went for a walk.  Or a hike.  I don’t know what to call it.

Clearly we had fun!  Jake loves being off the leash and exploring new areas.  And Lola…well, She is special.  But at least she stays RIGHT by my side so I always know where she is!

It was a beauuuutifully sunny day so I was happy to get lots of fresh air.  While in the woods, Jbird and I started talking like Yogi Bear.  Not sure why.  Apparently I sound like yogi from Jersey. Bah.  At one point J even made this SAME exact pose

STRANGE.  J… you and yogi have a lot in common 😛

After a nice long wike (walk and hike combined, duh) I came home and went for a run.  5 miles in the sun.  yes. please!  It was a nice easy run.  My running app was acting weird again and it said I did 6.6 miles in 40 minutes. wrong.  I know the route I ran was exactly 5 miles and it took 40 minutes.  I’m happy with that 🙂

I hit up a bodypump class at the gym today.  Mondays the class is MEGA packed so I went early to set up and had time to kill so I did 2 more miles on the treadmill.  Let me tell you, during the lunge track today my legs were feeling all the walking and running I did!

In other news, I got a new camera.  I hoping to start using it more often and providing quality pictures rather than the typical cell phone shot.  I mean, you KNOW there will still be cell phone shots, just hopefully not as much.

Hope you all had a fabulish day!  Short week for this girl!  Is it Thursday yet?!
